Pick up dates are May 5 & 6 or 12 & 13 between 10am and 6pm.  Pick up in Eighty Four PA.
Please let me know which day you would prefer to pick up your plants when you order.  In Western PA, we recommend holding off until the end of May or Early June to begin planting. If you do plant early, plan to watch the weather and cover your plants if there is a chance of frost.

~ Amish Paste - Bright red, heart-shaped fruits with meaty, juicy texture. The classic paste tomato - flavorful and juicy enough for slicing, with great meatiness for cooking down. Very few seeds, which can make sauces and pastes bitter. Sweeter flavor than other paste tomatoes. Indeterminate. Few seeds. 8-12 oz.SOLD OUT



Organic Matt’s Wild Tomato




~ Matt’s Wild - Cherry Copious quantities of small, deep red cherries with exceptional flavor. Matt’s keeps producing prolifically when every other tomato in the field is down for the count with Early Blight. Pick frequently as skin is thin and cracks easily. Trellis or let sprawl and naturalize. Shows moderate field tolerance to Late Blight. Indeterminate .25 oz.  SOLD OUT







~ Ralphie’s Oxheart –(Melody Acres Exclusive.) Large prolific pink tomato with green shoulders. Sweet meaty tomato with very few seeds. It is not unusual for these tomatoes to get over 2lbs each! ~ Yellow Melody Cherry Bright yellow cherries produce early and abundantly on compact

Organic Indigo Rose Tomato




~Indigo Rose  Stunning edible and ornamental tomato that ripens to jet black with
purple tinged foliage. Clusters of 6-8 firm ebony fruits. Vigorous and disease-resistant.

~ Cosmonaut Volkov Wins every taste competition with its rich complex flavor! Sweet and tangy fruits are slightly flattened with a healthy red color and moderately green shoulders. Prone to cracking in wet conditions, but not nearly as much as Brandywine. Originally from Ukraine; produces high yields even in cool conditions. Works well in low tech tunnels. ~ Berkeley Tie-Die Green Tomato
Incredibly colorful and delicious large-fruited slicing variety! Fruits run 8 to 16 ounces.
Exterior color is green with stripes in red and yellowbut the flesh is truly tri-color!
Creamy green flesh infused with various shades of red and yellow.
Each of these colors has a different flavor resulting in a spicy, sweet, tart tomato
with good acid all in one fruit. A truly incredible new open-pollinated variety,

~ Large Barred Boar  This regular leaf tomato grows fairly stocky and not as tall

as most indeterminate varieties. Flattened beefsteak fruits are pinkbrown with metallic green
stripes and weigh 8-12 ounces. Very meaty pink flesh is very flavorful. SOLD OUT

~ Oda   Very strong, compact plants crank out tapered, pointed bells from early summer on.
The fruits are the loveliest shade of plum purple, ripening to a lustrous red-brown.
Crisp, juicy, thick-walled fruits are very sweet. The short stature make it a great choice for

This is a hot, hot pepper, an improvement over our Red Cayenne, which it replaces.
Ring-O-Fire matures earlier and has a glossy sheen with a fire engine red color.

~ Hyssop - Anise This herb is used to make one of the best herb teas; the leaves possess a naturally sweet, wonderful anise taste and fragrance.

~Moldavian Balm Dragonhead (Dracocephalum moldavicum) Native to Europe.

The flowers are very long lasting, bright purple, proportionally large to the plant,
and shaped outrageously like the toothed head of a dragon.
This is a superior tea herb that can be started by direct seeding in the garden.
Easy germination, fast growth, and minty tasting leaves typify this old-time medicinal
that is used for treating the common cold. SOLD OUT













~ Basil (Genovese)  Who can live without fresh basil? This famous Italian heirloom is
very popular with many cooks.  Vigorous growth.
Keep pinched back and it will grow all season! Grows nicely indoors or out.

~ Holy Basil (Temperate Tulsi)  The plant is a bushy annual tea basil with small leaves,
purple flowers and a tutti-frutti fragrance. Among all basils in my experience,
this one is (surprisingly) the shortest season, most frost-hardy cultivar.
I’ve also seen these self-seed the following year, which is unusual among basils.
Traditional usage (Ayurveda): stress, anxiety, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, and dementia.  Drinking tulsi tea in the morning is a fantastic way to get started.

~Chamomile (German Chamomile, Manzanilla) Annual or overwintering annual native

to Europe.  This is the delightfully aromatic Chamomile of tea fame. Traditional usage
(TWM): stomachic, sedative.  Plant prefers full sun and cool garden soils for germination.

~ Fenugreek, Common (Trigonella foenum-graecum) Annual.  Native to the Mediterranean. Aromatic foliage bearing white flowers with distinctive blue markings.  Seed is warming to the digestive tract. Absorbs toxins. Lowers cholesterol level in the bloodstream.  Good for sprouts. Breaks up heavy clay soils–contributes nitrogen and organic matter.

~Cilantro (Coriandrum sativum) Popular in Mexican cuisine, this herb is a must for all

salsa and chili recipes; delicious and flavorful.Traditional usage
(TWM): Chelation of heavy minerals.  Harvest the seeds and use them as Coriander,

French Marigold, Frances\'s Choice, 0.5 g

~ French Marigold, Frances's Choice, (Tagetes patula) [Named for plant pioneer Frances Huffman by Alan Kapuler.] Tidy 3-4 ft. tall plants are covered with dark red-purple single flowers with a dramatic gold rim around each petal. 8 in. stems make lovely bouquets.  Marigold companion planting enhances the growth of basil, broccoli, cabbage, cucumbers, eggplant, gourds, kale, potatoes, squash and tomatoes. Marigold also makes a good companion plant to melons because it deters beetles. Beans and cabbage are listed as bad companion plants for marigolds.

Special orders must be made on or before April 15th so that your plants can be ready
in time for pick up. The earlier you order, the bigger your plants will be.
Cucumbers









~National Pickling Short, thick cukes with blunt ends are perfect for pickles

and delicious in salads. Fruits have striped, medium green skin and a slightly tapered
shape to fit in a pickle jar. A heavy producer with black spines.
Developed by the National Pickle Packers Association; the cuke pickle growers asked for.
Productive 5" fruit










~Marketmore 76   A great high-yielding 8 in. bitter-resistant cucumber.
Grows well in the Mid-Atlantic region as well as the North.
A good dependable market variety. Dark green fruits are white-spined.











~Green Finger Thin, tender skin, crisp flesh and a small seed cavity.
Green Finger blew away hybrids in our trials for quality and yield.
Unusually durable for this type; no wrapping needed!
A field or open tunnel variety bred by Cornell University;
requires pollination for fruit set. Beit Alphas are similar to European/
Dutch types with the same ribbed skin but smaller. 6-8" fruit



Bitter Mellon (goya)







~ Special Okinawan Variety  Seeds directly from Okinawa Japan.
Known for producing some of the best goya in the world.  
First year of production here at Melody Acres so plants are limited to 2 per customer.




Zucchini
~Costata Romanesc  Wins every taste test with its unique, slightly nutty flavor and
exceptional texture. Italian heirloom with tender, gray-green skin and
prominent ribbing that give this variety a distinctive appearance.
Great picked at 6" or smaller and fried whole with the flower still attached.
Gourmet variety. Harvest at 6"


Winter Squash




~Burgess Buttercup Dark green fruits with golden orange, stringless flesh and sweet,

rich flavor. A long-time New England favorite! Typically produces 10-12 fruits per plant, with vines reaching 15' long. Our improved strain has a high percentage of clean, non-warty and uniform squash. Fruits have a gray button on the blossom end.











~Spaghetti Squash Fork over the squash pasta!
Oblong, medium-sized light yellow fruits have very sweet flesh.
Bake or boil this unusual vegetable and the flesh separates into long noodles
resembling spaghetti. A fun treat for the family with kid friendly vegetable appeal - just
top with sauce and serve! 4-5 fruits/plant.. 3-5 lbs





~ Honey Boat OP ·flavor · 1-1.5 lbs Taste Honey Boat and youll think you're
truly eating a spoonful of honey! Many claim that this refined Delicata is the sweetest
squash in existence. Long fruits have the traditional green striping of Delicatas, but with
coppery skin instead of the classic yellow. Holds well and keeps its sweetness through
storage.







~ Waltham Butternut  By far the most widely grown OP butternut with delicious,

finely textured dark orange flesh. Uniform fruits with smooth, tan skin that is easily
peeled with a potato peeler. Our strain has been selected for uniformity of size, shape and
yields. Excellent keeper if cured properly. Stores well. Vining. Uniform, 4-5 lb fruits


~Gete Okosomin Squash This is the squash that gained fame online and became known

as the “800 year old squash” which, according to legend, seed was found in a “clay ball”

at an historic site in Wisconsin.The magnificent fruits run about 2-3 feet long and weigh

up to 18 pounds. The color is a rich, bright orange, with lighter orange striping running

the length of the banana-shaped fruits. Delicious--sweet, with hints of melon, and

possessing a wonderful smooth texture.



~Honey Nut Butternut Adorable, serving size mini butternut with dark tan skin and
great sweet flavor. Simply cut in half and bake! Delectable squash is smaller than Ponca
with more uniform butternut shape. Green unripe fruits; early planting is recommended
for tan color. Field resistance to powdery mildew. Developed by the Vegetable Breeding
Institute at Cornell University. Stores well .5-1 lb


~Musquee de Maroc (C. moschata) 90 days. This variety was a big hit at the 2014 Heirloom

Expo in Santa Rosa, California... taking first prize. The stunning, round to bell-shaped fruits

are terra-cotta to buff-colored, and warted very attractively. You’ll want to use this one in

centerpieces and displays before you consign it to the kitchen! A commercial variety in north

Africa.





Pumpkin


~New England Pie Classic pie pumpkin with dry, stringless flesh and superior thick
consistency in pies. Attractive fruits have dark orange skin with light ribbing and
well attached handles. Delicious flesh is not quite as sweet as Baby Pam but has even
better texture. Stores well. 4-6 lb fruit









~ Long Pie The absolute best pie pumpkin for cooking, with virtually stringless, smooth orange flesh.
Also known as Nantucket Pie. Harvest green with an orange spot on the bottom,
as Long Pie ripens in storage, turning completely orange outside as flesh sweetens inside.
Stores well. 5-8 lb fruit






~Cider Jack A knock out Jack O’ Lantern with smooth bright orange skin and a well-attached handle. Gorgeous medium-sized fruits are smooth and attractive; perfect for painting or carving.
Our earliest Jack with good yields of 2-3 fruits/plant. Semi-bush habit. 10-14 lb fruit




~Black Futsu Rare Japanese specialty for the porch or table with unique black,
warty skin and nutty, fresh flavor. Bright orange flesh has firm texture that is sweet
and buttery roasted or light and fruity raw. Delicious julienned and quick-cured with
salt in winter slaw! Fruits ripen in winter storage, when the green halo between the
flesh and skin disappears and skin turns from black to chestnut. 3-5 pumpkins/plant.
Stores well 3-5 lb fruit

and natural on our plants. Please consider cleaning and bringing back your unbroken plastic
